Either/Or Questions

Scavenger or Thief?
You're homeless, penniless and without support of any kind. You're living in the streets and you're hungry. No one will give you any money at all. Do you EITHER head for the dumpsters and scavenge for a meal OR do you steal from hard working people and risk getting hauled to jail?

*shiver* boy is that the truth! :((((

So as long as the republicans are in office, there will be plenty of recyclables for me. Major polluting corporations and oil companies are also on the agenda. It's just about time for another environmental movement.

unless you are wealthy or in the tobacco industry or involved with guns. you canexpect nothing from republicans. they don't care about anyone but #1. i betcha the republicans trash more recyclables than democrats (or other party members). they don't bleieve in global warming, or protecting the environment.

RE: I also enjoy thinking in my spare time...
I never said it would work...but people DO throw away a lot of recyclables... I'm thinking I would get publicity for doing such a good thing, that someone would just hand me a bunch of money... (Yeah right, not while the republicans are in office...)

pretty clever -- but give me an example, if you will -- how many recyclables would you have to collect to get enough money for a hot meal or a pair of shoes?

I'm involved with CoPIRG, which is a public interest group. We have a campaign called Hunger and Homelessness. As a "stunt" we slept on the yard of the Student Center. The campus co-ordinater said, "I can see why homeless people spend their money on booze. It would suck to be homeless. I would spend all my money on booze if I were homeless." Anyway, if I were homeless, I would dig in the dumpsters for recyclables, and get money for them.

RE: I know this is horrible but....
oh that is so true. they deserve the harshest prisons around. lets give them bread, water, wooden mattress with one thin blanket. poke holes in the roof to let rain in. when it rained hard it would be awful. for recreation, they could let bush and reagan spend time with charles manson and co. (at least charlie may be crazy but bush is just a greedy gut.) every day he should be put in a stockade and whipped. that made me smile. :)))))))))))

What makes you assume that jail means "3 hots and a cot?"

you never had any personal experience in the slammer, did you?

Would you steal like Reagan, the Bushs' or the thieving IRS?

RE: scavenger
i would starve. and by the time i felt any hunger, it would be too late. i have a high tolerance for not eating. i could never eat form a dumpster. but i should watch what i say. you know: they say, NEVER SAY NEVER OR NEVER SAY ALWAYS (EXCEPT WHEN MAKING THIS STATMENT).

RE: scavenger
hehe, i got morals, too ... and it pisses me off when people get robbed. i mean not only is it a personal breach in one's safety, but it never feels good to be robbed... however, i couldn't eat from a dumpster, either ... just, ew.

RE: I know this is horrible but....
you think so? i would be afraid of being acosted. it is a sad statement about how we run our prisons--(luxary cells)--that free but homeless people mite consider prison a better alternative to being free. prisons are too easy on the crooks. we need more of them. and there should be a real tough one built just for bush, cheney, trent lot, rush limbaugh ashcroft, and the like. this is a bit harsh. not all of them deserve prison. but SOME of them do.

RE: Eat, Drink & Be Merry
You betcha Wendi I emphatically agree :)The food corporation might've been robbing customers by pricefixing and illegally relabeling expired fooditems. :(Or BankAmerica gambling with customers accounts in the marketplace and when their investments take a nose dive they turn around and charge higher "maintenance fees" to the already fleeced customers to CYA. :(Or perhaps those (boohoo) car corporations claiming huge deficits, needing another BAILOUT because they wrongly assumed that they wouldn't be sued by millions of buyers because of the automobiles or SUVs, caused massive deaths on the highway, due to defective parts or glitches in the engineering programs!I wonder which is the real thief, the homeless, penniless, down on luck or the heartless b___ards ripping off the consumers every day of the year?
